Research reports Benches Collective

Placemakers researched the 2015 and 206 seasons of Benches Collective (BankjesCollectief); a quickly growing initiative that invites residents to ‘open’ a bench on their sidewalk for neighbors, passersby and other visitors. Who opens a bench and why? What kind of meetings and contacts result from it? What are the (long term) effects on the street and neighborhood? And how may the organization respond to the research results? The evaluations provide the project initiators with a theoretical basis and offer insight into the effects of the project, based on quantitative and qualitative research.
